Yearly mail routine

Warning: This blogpost has been posted over two years ago. That is a long time in development-world! The story here may not be relevant, complete or secure. Code might not be complete or obsoleted, and even my current vision might have (completely) changed on the subject. So please do read further, but use it with caution.

This year will be different. I will sort all my mail directly into different mailboxes. I will make sure my inbox will be 0 at all times. Yes! This is going to be an awesome worry-free mail year!

This is easy.. Why didn’t I do this last year?

Oh, mail backlog. Let’s try and get this right. Yes! Empty inbox again.. I’m such a mail-wizard!

February 5,

Ok, so.. 10 emails in my inbox.. I mean, come on.. 10 isn’t that much. I can sort them out easily next week.

March 19,

No time for sorting.. I still can manage my inbox this way with only 99 items. I mean, it’s not even 3 digits.

March 19, an hour later,

Ok, 105 is ok too.. it’s close enough to 100 I guess

April 8,

Now where did I place this email again?

May 1,

So let’s move my complete inbox to a “Q1” inbox, and start again.

May 2,

Nope, that didn’t work. Moving everything back to inbox..

July 20,

Some spare time.. Let’s get rid of those 500 emails in my inbox..   sort by sender,  delete twitter, mailinglists and all automated emails.  Still 400 emails left… hmz..  ok, enough work for today.

August 4,

Let’s pretend my mailbox isn’t large..

I know there was a message with some link to some kind of site for some reason.. but can’t find it anymore :/

October 20,

Let’s try again to get rid of those 1400 emails in my inbox..  sort by sender, delete twitter, mailinglists and all automated emails. Yes,.. 200 mails gone. Awesome..  let’s manually sort those 1200 emails..

October 20, 5 minutes later,

Nah, 1200 is fine..

November 16,

Just keep them coming. I’m done sorting and organizing my inbox…

Moving my inbox to Archive..
